18/30 – it’s the little things

Saturday morning laziness, isn’t it good? Saturday used to be the busiest day of the week for me when my kids were little. I had to take them to sports classes and camps, we had our weekly library visit, and I had to go grocery shopping, and plan the snacks for them to take to school the following week…

Now the kids aren’t kids anymore, young adults taking care of their own schedules. I’m enjoying the slow sipping of my coffee, writing, blogging and thinking about what I should do to enjoy this day. Of course, I still need to do grocery shopping, cook, do laundry and clean the house, but everything on my own time. No pressure!

Hubby found this feather in the backyard and saved it for me. Simple pleasures along the way. I took this photo yesterday, the pages are prettier than today’s where I have more scribbles than nice handwriting.

“Once she stopped rushing through life, she was amazed how much more life she had time for.”

15/30 – it’s the little things

Early morning jogging. The silence and emptiness of the streets, the contrast between the softness in the air and the rough touch of my sneakers on the ground. Balance, focusing on what is ahead and at the same time feeling the present moment.

the morning bareness

whispers of promise

stop. breathe. listen the sacred

each step counts, self-discover

Tanka Tuesday this week is tanka prose consisting of a preface and a tanka poem.

13/30 – it’s the little things

A new week ahead, blank pages to be filled up with words, draws and most of the time just scribbles. The main point is to give me a few minutes of calm and reflection, to organize the day/week. I’ll write a list of stuff I need to accomplish this week. It’s so awarding to check each item out when completed. A bullet journal is what this kind of journal is named. I had a special notebook for my lists, but I’ve given up, I feel more comfortable having everything in one notebook.

Hope you have a great week, and below is a nice quote about journaling, it really resonates with me.

This pouring thoughts out on paper has relieved me. I feel better and full of confidence and resolution.”

10/30 – it’s the little things

Finally, we got some rain this week. I believe my outdoor plants are smiling. We water them almost every day but nothing compares to a Nature’s shower.

My indoor herbs are doing really well. I like to add them to my dishes when cooking and it’s practical to have them indoors, so on a muggy day like today, I don’t need to go out in the garden to harvest a few leaves.

A glass of lemon water with a leaf of mint it’s perfect for a hot day. One of my fave drinks, with no calories and is refreshing!

01/30 – it’s the little things

Missing this space, I had two weeks off from my blog, my last post here was on May 14th: light and shadow. I needed this time off, my creativity is more in the shadow than in the light. I have many things going on in my workplace and with my family at the moment. Stuff that makes me unbalanced, both in my body and mind. I can’t do much about it and I need to find a way to focus on myself, create barriers and learn to filter what I should take in and what I should let go of.

I need to focus on Mindfulness and Balance: To control my thoughts and my weight. My thoughts are all over the place, most of the time in the past and in the future. I need to bring them back to the present moment. My weight is over the sky. I’ve realized that most of the calories are from snacks, the stressful eating while doing something, like when I’m working at the computer, cooking, reading…

I’m planning to post every day during the month of June, which is starting today. This way I’ll force myself to stop and notice the present moment and be grateful for it.

This morning hubby gifted me with a hibiscus flower that fell off our tree. He brought it inside while I was making coffee. A tiny gesture, but so lovely!

The marigolds I planted during the weekend are doing great. We had a few hot days and I was worried they wouldn’t make it.

A duck couple was visiting my garden this morning, it was a wonderful surprise to find them there.

And two other good surprises: my pink rose has the first bloom of the season and I found a feather in my yard.

Wishing a wonderful new month to you!

spring has sprung

in my garden

Spring is finally here on my side of the world. Flowers, rain, fresh rain, birds, Earth fragrance. Nature is having a party loaded with beauty.

The first flowers in my garden are tulips, my favourite spring flowers.

The public gardens in my neighbourhood have lots of them, each one prettier than the other. It’s such a blessing for my eyes and soul to look at them, stop and take a photo (or more than one). These few minutes of pleasure are like meditation.

A happy new week to you!

Tanka Tuesday this week is TANKA PROSE: “We write Tanka prose from the first-person point-of-view. The prose paragraph(s) must also seek to be, if not poetic, at least something that grabs our attention. It must compete with the verse in its style, intending to be inventive and expressive all on its own.

I took this photo during the weekend, the weather was fabulous, perfect to wander around and take photos. I thought the photo is perfect for a tanka poem. Hope you enjoy the poem and the photo.

Breakfast anyone? With the arrival of spring all the fresh and delicious berries start to show up at the stores. I enjoy to ate a handful of them early morning, it’s like I’m gifting myself with a load of antioxidants.
