Art pages

prompt: Rumi’s quote

You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?

Rumi

Recently I’ve joined an art page on IG. It was great to explore a little bit of creativity using images and quotes. The top page was inspired by one of Rumi’s quotes. His quotes/poems are always so peaceful. The image I’ve chosen shows the lightness of the feathers and the happiness in the woman’s smile. It reminds me of freedom and the butterfly represents transformation, changes we need to work on to adapt our minds and environment towards freedom.

prompt: William Wordsworth’s quote

Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.

William Wordsworth

No better teacher than Nature. I used to say that doing nothing by a lake is great, but now I say that being by a lake is an act of self-care, so I’m taking care of myself when I’m by a lake.

prompt: green

Green means spring/summer time here in Canada. We have bare trees and greyness from November to March, so when the green buds start to show up it is a sign of warm weather on the way. 😊

green

journaling in my living room
blue and yellow blast
i'm lost in a field of dreams
edge of the abyss

i look at my hands
the tiny emerald ring
roots me to the earth
it's time to grow and renew
the grass dancing with the breeze

Is anyone else feeling at the edge of the abyss? This winter has been so long and the creativity muse has left. Finally, this week the outdoors grey is giving some space for the sunshine and I’m starting to reclaim my creativity.

Tanka Tuesday this week is colours of the rainbow, green. My poem, consisting of a haiku and a tanka, intentionally doesn’t have the word green in it, but it has ‘green’ all over it. Hope you enjoy it!

Respect

first pages of 2022

Hello and Happy 2022 to you! If you are following for a while you know every year I choose a word to focus on during the year. It’s a tiny thing but always brings me back to the moment. This year I’ve chosen R E S P E C T.

Basically, RESPECT in relation to setting limits and boundaries for me. Setting barriers for protecting my values, mind and body.

In another hand, I need to give more space to my kids, young adults, to explore and to speak up their wishes and thoughts. I need to let go of my helicopter mother instinct. So, in this case, it is respecting their boundaries.

I’ve just come back from a long overseas trip. If you have noticed I haven’t posted for a while. I had many triggers during this trip, both physically and emotionally. I’m still processing them, but it’s clear that the lack of self-respect and boundaries is something I need to work on.

Journaling is my form of therapy. Using words or/and images I express myself and make sense of my thoughts. I’m pleased the page number for my first page of this year is the 100th. It has a feeling of resetting, starting anew. I used to have a new journal for the new year, but I’ve given up this habit. Now I just keep going with my pages, freedom of choice.

It’s wonderful to travel, to go away a little, but the best is to come back home, to come back to myself.

Hope you are home wherever you are!

Have you chosen a word for the new year?

Hugs,

E.

Twinkle lights vibe

The days are getting shorter and shorter. It’s dark when I leave home in the mornings and when I come back later in the afternoon. I like this feeling of grounding and going inwards this time of the year when we start to pay more attention to being and not just doing. Although I miss the sunlight entering my studio through the window, I enjoy the twinkle lights I’ve in there. The softness that comes with them, little tiny dots of light. I’ve twinkles on my dressing mirror as well, they are shining at me while a get dressed.

Today starts Gratitude week with Michelle, I’m looking forward to it as I know her posts will be just wonderful to turn my focus on what matters and to be grateful for the tiny things I’ve close to me. You can check out gratitude week and other of her lovely offerings here.

Today I’m grateful for my journaling practice. Over the years this practice has helped me to know myself, to understand situations and people and to clarify my mind when I had it clouded with thoughts.

Hope you have a great week ahead and focus on gratitude.

Hugs,

E.

hello

hello! how are you doing? i missed this space. i hope you enjoyed the rest of summer/winter and are ready for the new season. autumn for me. i love all the colours and freshness that comes with it. the sweaters and boots, scarfs, flannel pjs. i’m craving for all the pumpkin spice flavours and fragrances: pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin loaf, pumpkin muffins…., and the pumpkin candles to warm up my kitchen, although i love apple cinnamon candles this time of the year.

summer was lovely. i went to the north part of my province for a few days. a beautiful place with lakes and mountains. lots of kayaking and hiking. i read many books and wrote many pages. the leisure of a summer afternoon in my garden was wonderful. now, i’m sitting here typing these few words for you thinking about the past, wondering about the future, and trying to be present. i’ve a cup of coffee by my side, the morning freshness knocking on my window, a new day ahead.

hope you are doing ok and ready for the new season. enjoy the tiny moments, they are the ones that matter most and the ones that will be our company in difficult days.

Summertime

in my garden
bare feet in the grass
fresh flowers in abundance
summertime pleasures
thoughts flowing on the pages
delight under the sunshine

Sharing with Tanka Tuesday and WQWWC, both are writer’s/poet’s choice this week, so summertime it is.

When the sun is shining I can do anything; no mountain is too high, no trouble too difficult to overcome.

WQWWC :: Vacation

This week’s theme for WQWWC is vacation, well for a long time I haven’t had a vacation. I mean going out in the world and trying new things. It was impossible to travel last year, and I don’t think it will be different this summer. So, my best option is to travel inside my province.

It isn’t how much time you spend somewhere that makes it memorable: it’s how you spend the time.

I’m also planning on a staycation! My city has many parks and downtown has lots of nice spots for exploring. I want to walk on the streets and take photos of buildings and people for practicing my photography skills.

If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.

Napoleon Hill

Being at home and doing nothing with a schedule is another thing I’m looking forward to. I’m craving free time to work on my journals and paintings. I’ve a few unfinished projects I started last year while in quarantine that I want to finish.

The most important part of a vacation is being away from the daily routine. It’s refreshing for the mind!

Enjoy the vacation without going; enjoy the conversation without talking.

Bright pages

Nothing like starting the day with bright new pages. I’ve been writing morning pages for almost a decade. It has become a habit, like brushing the teeth and drinking a cup of coffee early mornings.

My favorite notebook for my journaling is Moleskine. I love the softness of the pages, and it just few right in my hands. This one is almost done. I’d like to try a new brand, but not sure which one I’d go for. Any suggestions?
