Trying to make sense
To go ahead
Without looking back

Hello,
I’ve been away from this space for several months because of health issues. I’m back now, I miss this space where I can share my thoughts with you. I’m still recovering, so I’m planning to post once a week and I wish my posts can inspire you. My posts will be about my journaling practice, art journal, books I’m reading, my garden…, beautiful things around me.

Why do I journal?
I’ve been journaling, almost every day, since 2013. Generally, I write 2 to 3 pages in the morning before starting the daily chores. I need to lay down my thoughts on the pages of my notebook to understand my feelings, to answer questions that are floating in my mind and to discern between what is really important to me and the other stuff that I must let go.
I didn’t start to journal without any guidance, I read lots of books about journaling and writing until I settle down with my journaling style. Here, here and here are three books that I keep on my desk as a reference and inspiration for my journaling.

My Journaling style
It isn’t easy to transform our thoughts into written words, at least for me. I need silence and a pleasant environment, so I go down to my studio taking with me a cup of tea. I light one or two candles and I warm my wrists with essential oil. I take few deep breaths and I’m ready to open my notebook and decorate the pages. I use lots of washi tape and clips from magazines.

As inspiration, I use Oracle/Tarot cards or poems/quotes, generally from Rumi and Hafiz or any book I’ve close by.
I believe that our minds keep secret messages from us and writing is a way to discover these messages. I’m always surprised with the messages that come up while I’m writing.
Hope you enjoyed to know a little bit of my journaling practice.
Elizabeth

cawing voices
upon the treetops
announcing mystery and magic
fascinating creatures
A tiny poem for Sue’s challenge this week.

There is time for everything,
The snow is thick now
The earth is dark
But
Tomorrow the sun will rise
A new day
New possibilities
The snow will thaw
So your hardened heart
You will see everything
Bright and light
I love short stories, around 50 words, we can say so much about it and the best is that the reader mind can fly with all the possibilities left hidden between the lines. So here is my 52 words story for Sue’s challenge: MAGIC

From her bedroom window, Ella sees nature dressed in white like a bride waiting for the groom. The bare branches are dancing the wedding waltz. The sky is deep blue, yes, something blue for good luck. Turning to the mirror, Ella sees the scars on her skin. Good luck to who?

Last flowers from this year
they were charming my garden
now they sit here
in the crystal vase from my mother’s wedding
a gift older to the new couple
now a treasure to me
their fragrance takes me back to the past
to memories worth to keep, to joy and beauty.
Today I finished my journal, it’s a wonderful feeling to write in the last page of a journal, it’s like mission accomplished! I can say that I’ve changed a lot since I wrote the first page of this notebook few months ago.
Here is my new journal, it is a novel journal where the lines are words of a story, mine is Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, I got it from Amazon, they have lots of novels to choose from, I bought Alice because of the cover being pink and the quote on it, you can check this and other novel journals here.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Here it’s raining, so I’m cozy at home drinking a latte and blogging.
Have a great week!

If I was walking in the forest
and found a magical portal
For sure I’d love to go back to the past
Not so sure if I’d like to know the future
But the past, yes, of course!
Not only to look at it but to change it
But how to change it
if at that time
I did what I thought to be right
And I didn’t know better
Would I be the same today
If the past wasn’t the same
Maybe it’s best
to leave the past there
Bye bye magical portal
I don’t need you

Where do you eat breakfast?
In my kitchen, I love to prepare something health and eat it slowly enjoying the moment. I wake up early everyday, around 5:30, to have ‘me time’: I journal, do yoga and meditation. At 7 am I’m in the kitchen preparing lunch bags for the 4 of us. I finally have time for my breakfast when all these tasks are done.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want have an evening with?
Well, if it is permited to use my imagination, I’d like to have an evening with the ladies of Sex and the City, the characters, not the actors, of the series. It will be a funny evening, only laughing, talking about nothing serious, only drinking and relaxing. Of course wearing glorious shoes!

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
I’d be a coconut tree, tall and strong living on a tropical island!
What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Hope you enjoyed my answers!
Have a great evening!

We are almost reaching the beach. It wasn’t an easy day, I hate when Hugh talks to me like that. The children should be OK at the cottage with the nanny, better there than here with this weather and his mood changing all the time.
I should have listened to the old folks in the village “nobody go that way this time of the year, it isn’t safe”, but of course Hugh needs to proof that he is right and nothing can change his mind. He came here to find an answer and he won’t stop until he gets it. I can’t understand why he is following the advice of that old witch, he is a business man, practical and never believed in magic. I shouldn’t have agreed with this nonsense, not without knowing what he is looking for, what the witch told him.
We should be close, I can hear the waves and Hugh is getting nervous, more than the usual.
What is he taking out of his backpack? No! It can’t be! How didn’t I see it coming! No Hugh! Please, no!
I’m alone now and my body is ebbing away.
Sharing with Sue’s Thursday photo prompt. The name of the character Hugh is for my friend Hugh from Hugh’s Views & News, he writes great horror/mystery stories and just posted one today ‘When the clocks go back”. I think he will like that I have named the guy after him. 🙂
