dappled

Dappled – marked with spots or rounded patches accordingly to Oxford Dictionary

I had to check this word out when I saw the Moonwashed Musings‘ prompt for this week and my first thought was about getting older.

The photo above is of one of my hostas in the backyard. I think it is beautiful the change of colours, the slow decay of the leaves with all their spots and edges turning inwards as if investing in self-care, saving the energy for the rough months ahead. It’s a different kind of joy when I look at the plants in the autumn compared with the joy in the spring, when the plants are coming alive, the edges going onward, showing off all the beauty and expectations for the new season.

October’s beauty

My city is loaded with beauty these last days of October. I wish I could always be outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and the glorious trees. Impossible tasks, since I work all day and most of the time in a place without windows. I left the office earlier on Friday, yes, I deserved it! I strolled around my neighbourhood soaking up all the sunshine and fresh air.

Walking meditation as I like to say. Capturing all the views and sounds with my mind, and of course, taking breaks to save these joyful moments with my camera.

Leaves on the ground, an invitation to step on them and listen to the crunching sound.

“Fallen leaves on the ground are the golden song of immortal creativity.”

Have a safe Halloween and a great week ahead!

October

October is here with all its beauty. I couldn’t resist to these flowers, I had to bring them home, a ‘me gift’.

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”
― Henri Matisse

The weather was pleasant during the weekend, and we cleaned up our vegetable garden. Yes, October is also a month for organizing the yard. Lots of work need to be done before is too cold to be outside. I harvested the last tomatoes, green tomatoes, I love to use them in sauces or just fry slices in olive oil.

Hope you had a great weekend, and happy October to you!

season of flavours and colours

Isn’t this season all about flavours and colours? Time for being cozy and turning inwards, to feel our feelings and understand our being.

Who can resist a pumpkin spice frappuccino during a work break?

Or a pumpkin pie slice early morning?

With all the colourful candies on display, hard to resist bringing some home.

Yes, Autumn is here! Happy new season to you!

How do you like your coffee?

I like mine with almond milk, sometimes coconut milk, other times oat milk. I used to have it black, but recently I learned how to make vegan milk and it turned out to be part of my morning ritual. My favourite one at the moment. I add the fresh and warm milk to a strong black coffee just out from the coffee machine.

Just a little bit of pleasure to a mundane thing as coffee making.

Wishing a joyful Friday to you!
