renewal

first tulip of the season in my garden
searching
magical wings
wandering without zeal
reaching the top and looking down
weakness
I'm powerless against the will
random resolution
time to renew
deep breath

As the first tulips start to bloom in my garden, I know it’s time to renew, to make changes, to let go of things that aren’t worth keeping and welcome the new, the possibilities, to make decisions, not always the best ones, but the ones that my body and mind are craving.

Tanka Tuesday this week is about Easter, with a flower image as inspiration. I’ve chosen a butterfly cinquain as a form for my poem, nothing better than a butterfly to remind us of rebirth, renewal, and transformation.

happiness

a droplet of happiness
happiness is a second in the infinity
it goes away with a blink of an eye
happiness is here and now
it’s a wish in yellow
a droplet in the eternity
happiness is never and forever

magical notebook

you found me

in the middle of a cornfield

a bookstore

where else could I be?

you hypnotized me

with the magical red and golden pattern

i couldn’t see or hear anything

except for your magnetism

you guided me close to you

in a trance state, I grabbed you

caressing your pages

the words formed spells in my mind

Reena’s Xploration challenge this week is to choose at least 2 words of the word cloudy below and be creative. I’ve chosen Hypnosis and Trance.

I bought this notebook a few weeks back during a trip to USA middle-west. It’s a beautiful place with lots of cornfields and wonderful bookstores. I couldn’t resist when I saw this notebook, I had to buy it! It was indeed a magical moment.

Sunday musings – yellow and orange

These last two weeks have been hectic. Many deadlines at work and weekend travel with the kids. I didn’t have time to have my precious ‘me time’ and to join the writing/poetry challenges, that I love, here.

Another snowstorm was on the way for the weekend, so I went grocery shopping on Friday evening and I found these gorgeous tulips, yellow and orange, at the grocery store. Of course, I had to get them.

I still have my Valentine’s roses, yellow ones, drying out. I dried red roses many years ago, they turned out great and are decorating my living room. These yellow ones are also drying beautifully. Not all the roses dry the way I like, so it’s great when they do and I can preserve them.

Today the clocks went ahead one hour. I’m taking this morning slowly, not hurrying to catch up with the lost hour.

I made pancakes for breakfast to enjoy with a strong black coffee. I got my orange mug last weekend while travelling to the USA middle-west. I drove all the way from Canada, a long drive, however pleasant, I love a road trip.

Yellow and orange are calling for me. I need to search for their meanings, I know yellow is happiness, and warm, but not sure about orange.

Wishing a wonderful day to you!

Haibun – a smear of jam

First sprouts for this year!

A smear of jam on my white shirt, the school uniform I always complained about.

Now, after many years, better to say, many decades, I miss that time. I miss the lightness portrayed in my memories when the worries were the exams and friendships.

The breakfast and lunch were always ready before and after school, as well as delicious snacks to take with me. Peanut butter and jam were savoured in hurry between laughs and books.

The smear of jam on my white shirt was inevitable.

No worries, the shirt would be washed as soon as I got home.

spring party

on my way yesterday – a rainy day

in that one moment
when snow turns into rain
the trees smile
Nature gets ready for the Spring party
flowers, birds songs, lots of sunshine
i feel lightness in the air

after the harsh winter
rain feeds the soil and the roots
Earth fragrance is wonderful
the sun wakes up earlier and goes to sleep later
bicycles and skates are everywhere
garden preparations must start
flowers and vegetable beds

it’s time for renewing
both soul and body
in that one moment
when snow turns into rain
thank you, Nature, for the opportunity
to start over and enjoy your gifts

Tanka Tuesday – Random words

selfish on her grace
she's capricious each moment
a trap for the eyes

Tanka Tuesday this week invites us to play with words. I love to write found poetry, and this is similar. She gave us a list of words to pick three or more and write a poem. I’ve chosen: selfish, capricious and trap. These beautiful yellow flowers are in a pot on my desk, I’m enchanted by their beauty, so this poem is for them. The words are below, why don’t you give it a try?

watercolour

I’ve rediscovered the joy of adding watercolour to my pages. The only downside is that it takes a long time to dry, so I can’t write on the pages as soon as I paint them. The solution is to prep them in advance. Today I prepared a few pages for the weekdays, it’s always a joy to see how the pages turn out after drying.

Because watercolor actually moves on the paper,

it is the most active of all mediums, almost a performance art.
