My journal is the nest of my creativity. In there, I give freedom to my imagination. I let the words lay down on the pages. Words expressing my feelings and ideas. I know my words will be free and sheltered from any damage in my journal.

Sludge: first snow fall

Yesterday we had our first snowfall for this season, so lovely to watch the snowflakes reaching the ground. Of course, the first snowfall and the first week of snow are magical, but as the time goes by it becomes very difficult to accept the heavy snow that accumulates on the streets and sidewalks. Here is an acrostic poem for you.
Snow
Lovely and magical
Unbelievable the softness and design
Demanding all the attention to drive and walk
Gear up and go out
Enjoy the outdoors before the sludge shows up
Particular :: Monet

Particular is a split second moment when the view from your kitchen is like a Monet painting. A cup of coffee in your hand, the silence, and a new day ahead.
Atmospheric :: Flowers

Last flowers from this year
they were charming my garden
now they sit here
in the crystal vase from my mother’s wedding
a gift older to the new couple
now a treasure to me
their fragrance takes me back to the past
to memories worth to keep, to joy and beauty.

“Understanding is the first step to acceptance,
and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I don’t understand why my mind can turn things upside down, can create memories and erase others. Exactly one week ago I had to make a split second decision, I was in lots of pain, I couldn’t think straight so my husband and son decided for me. I don’t want to go into details right now, I’m still processing the situation, but what I want to say here is that since a week ago I’m fighting with myself because I was weaker, I let go of my body and my will.
Yesterday my co-worker said that these feelings are part of the TRAUMA, takes time but eventually will go away. This word stayed in my mind, Trauma! I thought, it can’t be! I wasn’t in a car accident, I wasn’t raped … those things are the ones that cause trauma.
I did lots of reading last night about Trauma, and yes, it fits perfectly to my situation.
The process of recovery is long, and acceptance and understanding are part of it. So I’m journaling and journaling, trying to find answers between the lines.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Experimental: upside down iPhone

The leaves in my yard are pretty. I thought in taking a close up of them, but I was too lazy to go down on my knees to take the photo. I turned my phone upside down and without looking and focusing I clicked! Here it is, a great photo! You can see my pumpkins, on the sidewalk, waiting the recycle truck 🙂 they are a bonus to the photo, since I didn’t see them there before taking the photo.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge – Weather

Nasty weather around here, it’s getting colder and snow is on the way. Glad I stayed indoors during lunch time, I didn’t need to fight with the wind to keep the umbrella up.

Nurturing Thursday # 6

“Stop focusing on how stressed you are,
and remember how blessed you are. “
Unknown
I love to collect leaves and bring them indoors to decorate my home. I put them in my tiny vases and spread beauty around my home. When they dry I return them back to nature. I got these ones in my front yard where my beautiful maple tree is letting go of them, getting ready for the long winter that is coming. I collected these leaves, I gave a hug to my tree and I said thank you!

I made a mandala as well. I organized the leaves on the table and when I took the photo I saw that the light was reflecting exactly in at the center of the mandala. Isn’t it magical?
On Tuesday I didn’t have an easy day at work. So, instead open the door and bring all the work stress inside home I stopped in my yard, took a deep breath and saw all nature beauty around me. The few minutes I spent collecting these leaves and talking with my tree were enough to put a smile in my face to greet my kids.
Have a lovely day!

702 pages
The new book of Stephen King and Owen King just came out in September – Sleeping Beauties. It has 702 pages! I got it from the library yesterday, and it was in the quick reads shelf, this means I have one week to read it, and no renew! I’m not sure where my mind was when I checked it out. But I couldn’t resist to have Mr. King’s new book in my hands.

I’m posting the photo in B&W to acknowledge Sue Vicent invitation to join the Black and white challenge. I’ll not joining it since I have finished the same challenge few weeks ago. Thanks so much Sue for the invitation and the challenge is open to anyone that would like to join it.
Sunday Journaling
Today I finished my journal, it’s a wonderful feeling to write in the last page of a journal, it’s like mission accomplished! I can say that I’ve changed a lot since I wrote the first page of this notebook few months ago.
Here is my new journal, it is a novel journal where the lines are words of a story, mine is Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, I got it from Amazon, they have lots of novels to choose from, I bought Alice because of the cover being pink and the quote on it, you can check this and other novel journals here.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Here it’s raining, so I’m cozy at home drinking a latte and blogging.
Have a great week!
E.
