Book review :: Fairies, Myths, & Magic II

I downloaded this book last night! I read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down!

Lots of wonderful short stories about winter magic. It contains explanations for many Celtic terms, such as Yule, Solstice …, and the meaning of winter decorations we add to our house. And it has recipes! I can’t wait to try some of them.

And of course, being Colleen’s book it has to have poetry. Many beautiful poems in there, and the illustrations are lovely.

The poem below is an example of all the goodness you will find in this book.

The gray scarf

Gray tones, the closet is loaded

no feelings and expression in there

only a uniform for blending and never being seeing

between red, green, yellow, and pink

the gray scarf shall be chosen

blending, unseeing

red shoes, heels and lust
the hidden shine of the past
it will be revealed

The gray scarf is the Theme Prompt for Tanka Tuesday this week.

draft

focus
a click, a sound
exploding the senses
pencil caressing the paper
just like
an addicting enthusiasm
opposing ideas
reaching the ground
thunder

Tanka Tuesday – theme prompt “The Nature of Lightning” – I’m sharing a Butterfly Cinquain about my process of creating a draft, putting ideas together, scribbling, and words floating until they reach the paper, the ground, and an explosion. Hope you enjoy it!
