Nurt Thurs – Recharge

Where focus goes, energy flows.

Toni Robbins

Being by myself, in solitude, a few minutes in the morning is necessary for setting up my mood for the day.

Yesterday, before getting up, I heard another snow storm was coming. Instead of stressing out and hurrying up to arrive at the work before the storm hits the city, I slowed down and spent some time journaling and doing some art.

I needed this time to focus on myself before opening the door to the chaos outdoors.

I followed my mantra: Stop; Breathe; Listen

In the end, I had a pleasant day and enjoyed the walk in the snow feeling the wind and the flakes touching my face.

Instead of complaining, I was grateful for that moment.

Have you stopped and thought what are you grateful for in this moment?

Have a great Thursday!

Sunday Stills – Feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Emily Dickinson lived all her life in Massachusetts, USA. Never traveled far, but her words took flight and her poems are known all over the world. My favorite is this one above. I wonder if she could imagine that after centuries her words will still be traveling and touching the soul of many people.

Today’s word for Sunday Stills is flight, so nothing better than feathers and a poem about feathers to make our imagination fly away.

FOTD – Aging Tulips

Youth is the gift of nature, but age is a work of art.

Stanislaw Jerzy Lec

Getting older and letting go aren’t easy things, but we can learn lots with nature. I always keep the flowers until all the petals fell down. These were the first tulips that I got this year, at the start of February. You can see how pretty they were here. They are still pretty to me, but now it’s time to let them go.

Have a great weekend!

Tanka Tuesday – Energy

Since today is a full moon, my poem has to be about her. I was waiting for the moon to rise and take the photo for the post. This moon is a supermoon and is called a snow moon.

View from my kitchen at 7 pm eastern time

Letting go of the sacred innocence
the soothing music of the forest
in the dark February sky
bathed in flower essence and
dressed in a silver dress
distressed wolves howling
full snow moon blooms
she is bold
desired
joy

The words for today are game and trouble so I’ve chosen bold and distressed as synonyms. I’m using the Etheree form of poetry.

Full moon blessing to you!

Sunday Stills: Blank pages

Good Morning!

Today’s the theme is Fresh, well, so many things fresh things around me this morning:

The fresh flowers I’ve on my kitchen counter, fresh eggs, from the farm market, that I scrambled for my husband, fresh laundry waiting to be ironed, a new book on my coffee table …, but today I want to show the freshness of a habit, my journaling practice. I hope I have captured it below:

Let us live simply in the freshness of the present moment, in the clarity of pure awakened mind.

Matthieu Ricard

The freshness of a new morning
Coffee fragance diffusing through the kitchen
Blank pages waiting
Waiting for words
And thoughts
To surrender to the moment

Have a lovely and fresh Sunday!
