searching
magical wings
wandering without zeal
reaching the top and looking down
weakness
I'm powerless against the will
random resolution
time to renew
deep breath
As the first tulips start to bloom in my garden, I know it’s time to renew, to make changes, to let go of things that aren’t worth keeping and welcome the new, the possibilities, to make decisions, not always the best ones, but the ones that my body and mind are craving.
Tanka Tuesday this week is about Easter, with a flower image as inspiration. I’ve chosen a butterfly cinquain as a form for my poem, nothing better than a butterfly to remind us of rebirth, renewal, and transformation.
in between colours and dreams
she carries the weight of her ancestors
in her veins and heart
victories and achievements
pain and submission
laugh by the bonfire and paint on her skin
the shine in the eyes and wrinkles of wisdom
her face doesn’t betray the lightness of her being
Portrait of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw (1865-1932) by John Singer Sargent, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons
i'm the owner of my destiny
i'm powerful, I don't need you
slowly nearing my empire
my eyes will burn your soul
purple as my dress
hate flourishes
forgiveness
is past
go
This is an impressive portrait, the lady exhales confidence. The eyes and the colour purple called my attention. Purple colour expresses luxury, power, and independence. She seems content but at the same time, I see hate in her eyes.
I decided to give a try to a new poetry form this week for Tanka Tuesday Photo Prompt: Than Bauk is a Burmese poem.
“Than Bauk consists of three lines of four syllables that should be witty. The nickname for this form of poetry, could be “Stairway”, because of the rhyme steps through the poem”. See more details about this form here.
Hope you enjoy my take on it!
blood on the floor
dry tears for you
which door is shut?
fairy garden
hidden throughout the moss
unfurling magic
dust filled up with enchantment
opening up the heart
releasing the dreams
deeply in the forest
luckiest is the one who finds it
Joining Sadje’ s What do you see challenge My first thought when I looked at this pretty image was a fairy home. I love the blue colour of the mushrooms. Blue is the throat chakra, the one related to the voice, to speak up and release feelings.
a broken dish
mended with gold
the scar is precious
it tells time and has a story
shouldn’t be erased, discarded
travelling to countries, continents
rough oceans, calm skies
it reveals a path taken, chosen
to reach the eventful moment
a split second of sorrow
when the past can’t be redone
however, the future is a choice
the trash bin or the shining on the shelf
a decision must be made
the fragility in the hands of the doer
a smile, a memory of celebration
a lump in my throat, a memory of an empty dish
mended with gold
