W3 :: Fall

fall blooms
fall pretty leaves
fall is an open path
fall is all about letting go
fall down

W3 -I invite you to write a cinquain, a five-line poem, using repetition to give one word or phrase new meaning as the poem unfolds.

  1. Elizabeth, that last line completely changes how I read the whole poem, “fall down” flips everything from the gentle season imagery into something much more vulnerable. I love how “fall” quietly shifts from noun to verb right at the end, it’s such a smart use of the word’s double meaning. “Letting go” suddenly feels less peaceful and more like actually falling. Such a clever, well-crafted piece.
