exuberant confidence caressing the skin in the hands, a dark future oddity murdering joy present mingling with unknown
Tanka Tuesday this week is Ekphrastic poem and the photo is provided by Rebecca Budd. I have chosen a Tanka to describe what the photo depicts to me.
Delightfully mysterious, Elizabeth.

It takes a dark turn, the poem, and very fitting for the painting. Nice!

Elizabeth, I would have to agree that a soothsayer’s second sight could definitely be a curse. Just think of what you would know before it happened! Yikes. I think your tanka captured another facet of this painting. Well done. ❤

In some movies that I have watched Seers have little joy in knowing what the future.
Though I think often (at least in movies) attempts are made to change fortunes.
Nice tanka.

They do always mingle, don’t they? Nothing ever certain. (K)

Yes, if we knew too much about the future it would indeed “murder” some of the joy of the present. The unknown is full of possibilities… I wouldn’t want to lose them.

Hi Meg, you got it well, we don’t know what can happen tomorrow, so it’s better to be here and enjoy the moment.

Hi Yvette, knowing too much can hurt us, so it’s better to be in the present.
