“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”

Here, in Canada, we have 9 months of cold weather, so the 3 months of summer are a dream to come true. It is time for gardening and enjoying the outdoors. I like to wake up earlier than usual, generally the birds songs do the job of take me off the bed. I run/walk by the river and parks in my neighborhood, always with my phone to take pictures of the beauty around me.
” Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.”
John Lubbock
Eating healthier is another summer thing for me. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and cutting down on the fat and sugar.

“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August.”
Beach time is a must too, I go south for a few days to enjoy the ocean, but not last year and not sure if it will be possible this year, we are still in lockdown.
Hope you enjoyed to hear my summer highlights and please share yours in the comments, I’d love to hear it!

Yum to the raspberry! I have been eating more berries too, and getting outdoors even though we’ve had a lot of rainy weather. The cicadas were loud today, but I didn’t mind, it’s just nature.

Elizabeth, what a lovely post. I love the visual of “sunshine was like powdered gold…” your pictures are inviting, especially the raspberry and whipped topping., yum. I hope that you can get to the ocean this year. Where do you go?

Thanks so much, Marsha! Glad you like it, everything is so fresh in the summer, it makes us to want to be fresh and healthier as well. Oh beaches, anyone with white sand is welcome, generally I go south to Florida, Mexico, Caribean, once a while I go really south, to south America, wonderful beaches down there. I hope I can deep my feet in the salt water this year! 🙂

How fun! I’ve never been to South America. In the meantime, it’s even summer in Toronto, so I hear, so we can enjoy freshness. We are supposed to hit 100 next week in Prescott, which is unusually hot for here. It was 102 in Scottsdale, an hour and a half south of us, when we went down yesterday.

Wow, 100! The maximum that goes here is 90! And we keep the AC running all the time.

Ninety is bearable unless there is a lot of humidity. Even then, though I want to be in the shade or indoors.
