Tanka Tuesday and WQWWC :: Expedition and Exciting

inspiring books

diving into minds
excitation of senses
feelings pouring out
the ink bleeding on each page
laying down and flying out

Expedition and Exciting. Always exciting to be part of an expedition. Here, I’m writing about the excitement of going on a solo expedition into the mind. The journey into our own mind or into the mind of others. It’s exciting to let the mind guide our hands and to write our deep thoughts, an expedition to discover the mysteries in the biggest universe inside us. Another form of the expedition is the one into the books. Poetry books in special, where the writer has poured out his/her feelings into a blank page. Some writers have the power to transport us to inside their minds. We can feel their happiness, sadness, insecurity, anger … as if they are our own feelings. Without a doubt, opening a new book and diving into it is a powerful and exciting expedition.

Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.

An exciting and inspiring future awaits you beyond the noise in your mind, beyond the guilt, doubt, fear, shame, insecurity and heaviness of the past you carry around.

  1. Elizabeth, what a thrill I received seeing my own book in that collection of poetry books! I’m with you… an armchair traveler experiencing all kinds of expeditions through books. I really loved this tanka. It says it all! ❤

    1. Hi Frank, I doing fine! It has been a great summer. Hope you are well. Books never let us down, the only way to explore faraway lands and minds during this pandemic. 🙂

  2. Elizabeth, books are exciting. I love how you display books that mean so much to you, then share about them in poetry. I love seeing Colleen’s book there. I should have bought it in paperback rather than Kindle. I may have to go back and get that edition. This is an exciting post for this week Elizabeth. 🙂

    1. Hi Marsha, glad you liked it! Books have always been a way to travel for me, and now with the pandemic, they are my only form of escaping. I always go for the paper copy, except when travelling, then I load my kindle. Colleen’s book is indeed a wonderful poetry guide, I keep mine on my writing desk, so I have it at hand when I need to check some poetry form. 🙂
